The GR221 takes us through the Serra de Tramuntana, which is 90 km long. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011. It is known for its centuries-old stone walls, olive trees and holm oaks that characterize the landscape. The Serra de Tramuntana has an extensive network of trails. Some trails follow the old roads connecting the villages. They date back to the Arab period (1000 years ago) and are partly paved with stone. Others follow the charcoal wagon paths and old mule tracks to isolated farms or watchtowers. The GR221 or “Pedra en Sec – Route of the Dry Stone Walls” runs along more than 160 km of old cobbled roads that once connected villages and properties on the mountain.
On the individual trekking tour from Andratx to Pollensa you can choose between 2 accommodation options. With the standard Mallorca Activities option you usually stay in mountain huts in shared rooms. The huts/refugios are all very clean and you sleep in bunk beds. In 3 accommodations (Estellencs, Valldemossa and Lluc Monastery) you sleep in standard double rooms.
